Alvin “Testimony” Bowman’s life isn’t simply a comeback story. It’s a testimony.
He was a West Point cadet. A Division I athlete. An Army officer. A professional lacrosse player. A husband, father, and respected member of his community.
Then addiction changed everything.
What followed was a decade-long battle with crack cocaine that led to homelessness, eating from trash cans, and eventually incarceration. Alvin lost nearly everything—but in his darkest season, he found God, and with Him, a new purpose.
Today, Alvin is sober, restored, and on a mission.
As founder of MindzEye, Inc., a faith-driven nonprofit serving youth, families, and communities throughout the DMV, Alvin has transformed his pain into purpose. He is a spoken word artist, recovery advocate, mentor, FCA ambassador, and Masters League lacrosse player who continues to compete at the highest level.
For more than 25 years, Alvin has carried his story into prisons, universities, NFL chapels, national conferences, churches, schools, and recovery centers—reminding audiences that no matter how far you’ve fallen, your story isn’t over.
